Tree wrapping runs $150 to $1,475 depending on the tree. Wreaths, garland, pillar wraps and window lights sit between $75 and $400 each.
There is no removal invoice in February. We publish this because the conversation goes better when you already know whether we are in your range.

Where We Install Around Richmond
Richmond is really several different lighting problems sharing a metro area. The right display depends a lot on which part you live in.
The Fan, Museum District and Church Hill
Rowhouses and early-century masonry, with porches and cornice lines built for lights and shared walls that were not. Displays here are about precision, because your roofline runs into your neighbor’s. Warm white rooflines with wrapped porch columns are the most common request, and nothing goes into the brick or trim.
In Church Hill, Jackson Ward and Shockoe, the Old and Historic Districts fall under the Commission of Architectural Review. Clip-on seasonal displays rarely raise issues there. Anything permanent is a different conversation, so we raise it at the design stage. In Windsor Farms, Forest Hill and Northside, deep lots and mature trees mean wrapped trees and lit garland often do more than the roofline alone.
Short Pump, Glen Allen and Henrico Christmas Light Installation
Larger, newer builds with long rooflines, multiple gables and the peaks that make the Santa and North Pole packages worth their price. These are also the homes where permanent roofline lighting pays for itself fastest, because the footage is high enough that a seasonal install repeats at scale every year.
In Tuckahoe, the Henrico West End and Innsbrook, we light homes south of Broad and offices to the north. Commercial work runs on its own schedule, covered below.
Midlothian and Chesterfield Christmas Light Installation
Long approaches, gate posts and drives. Here the property is seen from the road before anyone gets close to the roof, so pillar light wraps and tree work often matter more than the house itself. We cover Midlothian, Bon Air, Chesterfield, Chester and Powhatan on the same Richmond route.
Mechanicsville, Hanover and Ashland Christmas Light Installation
The outer ring of the route, from Mechanicsville and Hanover up to Ashland. Many homes here are ranch or farmhouse builds with covered porches, where a clean roofline and wrapped porch posts beat a crowded display. If you are within about forty minutes of downtown, we are almost certainly on your street already, so call and check rather than assume.

How It Works, From Your Call to the First Night It’s Lit
Most people call us with nothing more specific than “the roofline, I think.” That’s a fine place to start. Here’s what happens next.
1. We walk your property before we quote
A designer measures your roofline, counts the peaks and checks what your roof is made of. You leave that visit with a written price and a package tier, not a range.
2. We build your display before install day
Every strand is cut, clipped and tested to your measurements in the fall. That prep work is what fills our fall schedule.
3. We install on our Richmond route from early November
You don’t need to be home. The crew works from the plan made at your walk-through.
4. If something fails, we fix it
In-season repairs are part of every package. A dark section in December is ours to fix, not yours to climb toward.
5. We take it down in January and store it
Takedown and storage are already in your quote, not billed later.
Takedown and Storage Are in the Price, Not Added in January
The part of holiday lighting nobody thinks about in October is the part they resent in January: the cold Saturday spent pulling clips off a wet roof, and the tangle of strands that goes into a garage bin in Chesterfield and comes out unusable next November.
We take everything down after the season and store your display through the year, so it goes back up on the same measurements. Both are inside the number you were quoted. Removal is commonly billed as a separate charge in this market, so it is worth asking any installer you are comparing us against whether their quote includes it, because ours does.
It also means the product stays ours to maintain. Strands that come back damaged get replaced rather than patched, which is why a display in its fourth season with us looks like one in its first.
If you would rather not repeat the cycle at all, that is the argument for permanent roofline lighting, covered further down.
Wrapped Trees, Which Is What Richmond Streets Are Built For
Half the houses we light in Richmond would look better with the trees done than the roof. Monument Avenue, Windsor Farms and the older stretches of Northside have mature street trees that were planted a century before anyone was hanging LEDs on them, and a single wrapped trunk on a front lawn reads further down the street than a whole roofline does.
Pricing follows the tree, not the hour. Small ornamentals and Japanese maples fall at the bottom of the range with small tree wraps, while medium and large tree wraps cover most front-yard maples and oaks. For the big ones, and the West End has plenty, we run wraps up to 24 feet and up to 30 feet on a lift. If the canopy is out of reach but the trunk is the feature, trunk wraps on medium trees give you most of the effect for a fraction of the strand count.
One thing we tell everyone: wrapping is a labor line, not a materials line. A 30-foot oak takes a crew, a lift and most of a morning, which is why the quote moves with height and branch structure rather than a flat per-tree rate. We measure yours on the design walk and tell you what each tree costs before you commit to any of them.
The Details That Finish a Front Entry
A roofline outlines the house. What people see walking up to your door is everything between the mailbox and the porch light, and it is the cheapest part of a display to get right.
Christmas wreaths come in 24, 36 and 48 inch sizes, sized to the door or the gable rather than ordered by default. Lit garland runs along porch rails and door surrounds, and it is the most requested add-on in the Fan and on Monument Avenue because those porches were built for it. Pillar light wraps go around columns and gate posts at 10 inches wide and 8 feet tall, in warm white, cool white, pure white, blue, green or ruby red, with install and removal included. Out in the beds, shrub lights and ground lights carry the display down to eye level so the front of the property does not go dark below the porch rail.
Most of this sits between $75 and $400 per element. It is usually what people add in year two after seeing the roofline alone, and it is worth pricing in year one.
Commercial and Corporate Lighting in Richmond
Commercial work runs on a different clock than residential. Property managers need a certificate of insurance before anyone sets foot on site, an install window that does not run through trading hours, and a crew that can be back on the property inside a day when something fails in the busiest retail month of the year.
We light retail centers, office parks, hotels, breweries, campuses and HOA common areas across the Richmond metro. In Scott’s Addition, Shockoe Slip and along the Canal Walk that usually means restraint: brick, iron and a pedestrian sightline of about twenty feet, where volume works against you. On Broad Street, Midlothian Turnpike and around Short Pump Town Center it is the opposite problem, where facade and roofline work has to read from a car doing forty-five. Carytown sits between the two, and storefront-by-storefront coordination matters more there than fixture choice.

We replace rather than repair, because a strand that has already failed once in a wet December will fail again. You are not being asked to diagnose anything, buy a replacement box, or wait until the crew is “back in the area.”
Power, Timers and Century-Old Wiring
This is one of the most common questions Richmond homeowners ask us. In most cases, yes. Our LED Christmas lights use far less power than the old incandescent strands many people still have in the attic, so a full roofline display usually runs on your existing outdoor outlets without tripping breakers. Before we install anything, we check your outlets and plan the circuits so your lights stay on all season.
The practical constraints on a Richmond home are outlet placement and circuit sharing, not total load. Older homes in the Fan, Church Hill and Northside often have one exterior outlet on the front of the house, sometimes on the same circuit as the porch light and an interior room. We map that during the design walk, split the display across what is available, and tell you if an electrician needs to add an exterior GFCI outlet before install. That is an October conversation, not a Thanksgiving-week one.
Everything runs on a timer set to your hours, typically dusk to around 11pm, so the display is not on at 3am costing you money.

How much does Christmas light installation cost in Richmond?
Roofline packages start at $940 for up to 75 feet and top out at $3,200 for up to 400 feet, and the packages page lists all four. Tree wraps and add-ons such as wreaths and garland are priced per item. Your quote covers the whole season, from the first design visit through January takedown and off-season storage.
When should I book for Richmond?
September and October. Booking early matters because the Richmond calendar is normally full by Thanksgiving. If you are calling in December, call anyway, because we sometimes have cancellations.
Do I need to buy the lights, or do you supply them?
We supply everything. The strands, clips, timers and extension runs are ours, included in the package price, and they go back into our storage in January. You are not buying product that has to live in your garage for eleven months.
Can you use lights I already own?
We do not install customer-owned product. It is a safety and warranty issue more than a preference: we cannot stand behind a strand we did not buy, test and store, and most consumer sets are not rated for the run lengths a full roofline needs. If you have sentimental pieces, tell us at the design walk and we will work out what fits around them.
Will anything be attached to my roof or siding?
No. Nothing is stapled, nailed or screwed into your roof, siding or trim. We use clips sized to your gutters and shingles, and on slate or standing seam, which covers most of Church Hill and Monument Avenue, we switch to fixings made for those materials.
Do you work in Richmond's historic districts?
Yes. Seasonal displays that attach without permanent fixings are generally straightforward, but anything permanent in an Old and Historic District may need to clear the Commission of Architectural Review first. We flag which category your project falls into at the design stage.
Do you serve Short Pump, Midlothian and Mechanicsville?
Yes, along with Glen Allen, Henrico, Chesterfield, Bon Air, Tuckahoe, Hanover, Ashland, Chester and Powhatan. The service areas page has the full map.
Do I need to be home on install day?
